PURPOSE: Provided are organometallic complex which is excellent in heat resistance and can be obtained with a low cost and with a high yield and whose ligand can be prepared easily, its preparation method, a phosphor containing the complex, and a light emitting device containing the phosphor which has a good spectral luminous efficiency. CONSTITUTION: The organometallic complex is represented by the formula 1, 2, 3, 4, 24 or 25, wherein R1 to R10 are independently H, a halogen atom, a low molecular weight alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an acyl group, a nitro group, a cyano group, an amino group, a dialkylamino group, a diarylamino group, a vinyl group, an aryl group or a heterocyclic group; Y is a heterocyclic group containing a nitrogen atom as a heteroatom; M is at least one element selected from the elements of groups 9 and 10; n is 2 if M is the element of group 9 or 1 if M is the element of group 10; and L is a mono-anionic bidentate ligand having aβ-diketone structure, a mono-anionic bidentate ligand having a carboxyl group or a mono-anionic bidentate ligand having a phenol hydroxyl group.
