PURPOSE: An anticorrosive composition for a shadow mask is provided, to prevent the corrosion of a shadow mask even during long-term storage by completely removing the remaining photosensitive layer and impurities present on the surface of a shadow mask and modifying the surface. CONSTITUTION: The anticorrosive composition comprises an inorganic salt corrosion inhibitor; water; a hydroxide selected from the group consisting of an inorganic hydroxide, an organic hydroxide and their mixture; and optionally a water-soluble aminoalcohol. Preferably the inorganic salt corrosion inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of a chromate, a silicate, a nitrite, a phosphate, a borate and their mixture; the inorganic hydroxide is selected from the group consisting of lithium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, rubidium hydroxide, cesium hydroxide and their mixture; the organic hydroxide is selected from the group consisting of ammonium hydroxide, tetramethylammonium hydroxide, tetraethylammonium hydroxide, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide, tetrabutylammonium hydroxide and their mixture; and the water-soluble aminoalcohol is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1, R2 and R3 are independently H, a C1-C5 alkyl group, an aminoalkyl group or an alkyl alcohol group and at least one of R1, R2 and R3 is a C1-C5 alkyl group.
