A pharmaceutical composition comprises a nucleic acid molecule comprising the nucleotide sequence of Figure 1, a sequence which has more than 66% identity to the sequence of Figure 1, a sequence that hybridizes to the sequence or a functionally equivalent fragment thereof or a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of Figure 1 or a sequence that has more than 60% homology to the sequence of Figure 1 and provides a functionally equivalent protein. The composition can be used of the prevention or treatment of an allergic condition or cancer or for stimulating cytokine production. Preferably the conditions is selected from eczema, dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic airway diseases, hyper-eosinophilic syndrome, contact dermatitis, food allergy, and respiratory diseases characterized by eosinophilic airway inflammation and airway hyperresponsiveness, such as allergic asthma, intrinsic asthma, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, eosinophilic pneumonia, allergic bronchitis bronchiectasis, occupational asthma, reactive airway disease syndrome, interstitial lung disease, hypereosinophilic syndrome or parasitic lung disease.
