PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal element which has memory property of aligned state. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal element includes a couple of substrates subjected to alignement processing and are equipped with electrodes, and a liquid crystal layer which is held between the substrates so that the voltage is applied from the electrodes and formed including nematic liquid crystal, and has a polymer wall formed in the liquid crystal between the substrates, wherein the alignment direction of the couple of substrates crosses the alignment direction of the nematic liquid crystal included in the polymer wall.
