PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that easily visible display is performed in spite of a fluctuation in the observation environment. SOLUTION: The picture data adjusted in the number of pixels in a number-of-pixel adjustment processing section 1 is separated to Y (luminance) data and C (chromaticity) data in YC separation processing section 2. The Y data is subjected to gradation correction processing meeting a gradation correction signal 81 in a gradation correction processing section 3. The C data is subjected to saturation correction processing meeting a saturation correction signal 82 in a saturation correction processing section 5. The Y data subjected to the gradation correction and the C data subjected to the saturation correction are converted to RGB data in a YC/RGB conversion processing section 6 and is subjected to prescribed color subtraction processing in a color subtraction processing section 7 and is outputted. An observation environment decision section 8 decides the observation environment of a display element 33 based on the information associated with the observation environment and outputs the gradation correction signal 81 and saturation correction signal 82 meeting the observation environment.
