PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device capable of detecting the absolute position at low cost with simple constitution. SOLUTION: This position detecting device 20 is provided with an ultrasonic device 30 comprising an ultrasonic transmitting means 31 to transmit ultrasonic waves T1 in a moving direction of a seat part 3, and an ultrasonic receiving means 32 to receive transmitted ultrasonic waves T1, and an ultrasonic reflecting part 40 having a reflection surface part 41 to reflect the ultrasonic waves T1 transmitted from the ultrasonic device 30. In the position detecting device 20, propagation time t for the ultrasonic waves T1 transmitted from the ultrasonic transmission means 31 to be reflected by the reflection surface part 41 of the ultrasonic reflection part 40, and received by the ultrasonic receiving means 32 can be detected. The propagation time t varies due to the difference in the position of the seat part 3 to a floor panel 8, so that the absolute position, etc., of the seat part 3 to the floor panel 3 can be detected based on the propagation time t detected. Since the position detecting device 20 is composed of the ultrasonic device 30 and the ultrasonic reflection part 40, absolute position detection can be performed at low cost with simple constitution.
