A mode switch (37) selects a low idle mode for lowering the rotational speed of an engine (31) down to a low idle state, or an idling stop mode for bringing about an idling stop state. Operation of a one-touch low idle switch (27) produces a command of low idle state in the case of the low idle mode, and produces a command of idling stop state in the case of the idling stop mode. A controller (32) controls the engine (31) to the low idle state by operating the one-touch low idle switch (27) in the low idle mode, to the idling stop state by operating the one- touch low idle switch (27) in the idling stop mode, and restarts the engine by restarting the one-touch low idle switch (27). Idling stop operation can be realized readily.
