PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for making holographic stereogram by which a holographic stereogram in a focused state even in a non-parallax direction, can be produced. SOLUTION: The apparatus for making holographic stereogram is constituted by arranging a spatial light modulator to modulate the object light, a one-dimensional diffusive plate to diffuse the object light modulated by the spatial light modulator in a one-dimensional direction, and an object projection optical system, between the modulator and the diffusive plate, which projects the object light modulated by the spatial light modulator to display an image by the spatial light modulator onto the one-dimensional diffusing plate in the one-dimensional direction of the one-dimensional diffusing plate, while converges the object light onto a hologram recording medium in the direction almost orthogonal to the one-dimensional direction. Thereby, by projecting the display image of the spatial light modulator onto the one-dimensional diffusing plate in the one-dimensional direction, an out-of-focus state of the image with the one-dimension direction as the non-parallax direction can be decreased.
