PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal for an electronic component with excellent joining strength with an aluminum electrode terminal even when lead wires made of copper single body subjected to leadless tinning are employed without the need for any modification, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the terminal for the electronic component, a metallic lead terminal subjected to leadless tinning is joined with an electrode terminal made of a different kind of metal from the metal of the metallic lead terminal. The method includes a step of heating the lead terminal to a temperature at which the leadless tinning on the surface of the lead terminal reaches a half-melting state, and a step of pressing the lead terminal whose plating layer is half-molten to the electrode terminal and joining them by welding.
