PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the heat dissipation from the surface of a glass tube and the sealing part of a lead-in wire of a cold cathode discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The heat dissipation of the cold cathode discharge lamp is improved by mixing glass for the glass tube 1 and bead glasses 5a, 5b with a metal powder having a higher thermal conductivity than that of the glass. The metal powder is formed of at least one of W, Mo, and Ti. The weight ratio of the metal powder to that of the glass is made to range from 1 to 10%, resulting in obtaining the heat dissipation effect and a sufficient light transmittance.
