PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tension detector capable of detecting a tension acting on a belt member with high precision. SOLUTION: In the tension detector 10, a body of rotation 14 around which the motion-conversion-means constituting end 12A of a webbing belt 12 is put and wound, is held at its initial rotational position by the urging force of a return spring 24, when a tension does not act on the webbing belt 12. When a longitudinal tension Ft acts on the webbing belt 12, the belt end 12A is wound out from the body 14 and the tension Ft is converted substantially all into the torque of the body 14. Consequently, the body 14 rotates by an amount proportional precisely to the tension Ft. By detecting this amount of rotation with a force sensor 20 pushed by a push bar 18, the tension Ft is detected with high precision. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
