PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a total station so that the positions of a plurality of measuring points on a screen successively come to the center on the screen. SOLUTION: When images 104a-104n of the target 104 of a display 65a are clicked by a mouse, the coordinates of respective images 104a-104n and those of a center 33 of the display 65a are recognized, the distance deviation between the positions of respective images 104a-104n and a screen center 33 is obtained, the amount of travel for inhibiting each distance deviation to zero and a traveling direction for matching the positions of respective images 104a-104n to the screen center 33 is obtained, a rotary drive command is generated corresponding to each measuring point according to each operation result, horizontal and vertical axes are rotated and driven by the control of a horizontal control section 54 and a vertical control section 56 based on each rotary drive command, and the positions of the images 104a-104n travel toward the screen center 33 successively.
