PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extracting a binder capable of extracting a binder from a molded body at a high extraction rate almost without causing danger of catching fire and an environmental load, and to provide a method for manufacturing a sintered compact which gives almost no load on the environment and has as superior physical properties as a conventional method has. SOLUTION: The method for extracting a binder comprises adding a solvent containing monocyclic terpene to a molded body formed from a blend of a powder and the binder and extracting the binder from the molded body at 80°C or higher. The method for manufacturing a sintered compact comprises blending the powder and the binder to form the blend, forming the blend into the molded body, subsequently extracting the binder from the molded body by the method of extracting the binder, and then sintering the the molded body.
