PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner for preventing a user from carelessly opening the lid of a dust collecting case to scatter dust when the dust collecting case is removed from a vacuum cleaner main body. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes: the dust collecting case 17 freely removably attached to the cleaner main body; a separating part for centrifuging dust; a dust collecting part for storing the separated dust; a lid body 23 for closing the dust collecting part so as to be freely openable/closable; a grip part 26; an operating part 27 arranged near the grip part 26 so as to open the lid body 23; and a cover body 28 for covering the operating part 27. Since the dust collecting case is not brought into contact with the operating part 27 in the case of attachment/detachment, the lid body 23 is not carelessly opened to scatter the dust.
