PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyer with reduceable height of a frame. SOLUTION: The depth of a step board 10 is not more than three times the diameter of a moving wheel 11 journaled to the step board 10. The power is transmitted between a mechanical reduction gear 30 constituting a drive unit 27, and a drive electric motor 29 through a flexible member (36). A power sprocket 26 driven by the drive unit 27, the mechanical reduction gear 30, and the drive electric motor 29 are placed along a frame 3 of the passenger conveyer in the longitudinal direction when viewed horizontally.
