PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain arrowroot fiber with improved glossiness. SOLUTION: The arrowroot fiber is obtained by the following process, which comprises the step of obtaining bast tissue from arrowroot stems, the step of boiling the bast tissue, the step of separating the boiled bast tissue into bast layer and bast fiber by spontaneous fermentation by sundry germs, and the step of immersing the resultant bast fiber in a solution incorporated with at least cellulase to improve the surface smoothness of the bast fiber.
