<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-contrast, high image quality projection-type display. <P>SOLUTION: The projection-type display comprises photolysis means 105, 106 for decomposing luminous flux that is generated from a light source 101 and passes through an integrator optical system consisting of a first lens array 102, a second lens array 103, and a superimposed lens 104 into red, green, and blue; light bulbs 112, 113, 114 for optically modulating the decomposed luminous flux to red, green, and blue; and a photosynthesis means 115 for synthesizing each modulated color luminous flux for forming a color image. In the projection-type display, a light-shielding means 1 for limiting the incident angle to the light bulb for a specific color is provided, thus achieving a high-contrast display, without causing brightness to be reduced by securing the balance of each color. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
