<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, promoting the re-combustion of unburnt gas in a combustion chamber when supplying a relatively rich mixture at starting in the cold condition to prevent the exhaustion. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device comprises a secondary air supply means 24 for jetting secondary air toward the opening of an exhaust port 7 to be opened/closed by an exhaust valve 5 of the internal combustion engine, an exhaust valve variable control means E for variably controlling at least one of a valve opening/closing timing Veo for the exhaust valve 5 and a valve lifting amount Veh to control the increase/reduction of an aging valve opening area, an operation information detecting means for detecting operation information Tw for the internal combustion engine, and a controller 9 for controlling the drive of the secondary air supply means 24 and the drive of the exhaust valve variable control means E to increase the aging opening area Svo of the exhaust valve 5 when determining that the internal combustion engine is at a cold condition determined temperature or lower according to the operation information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
