VARIABLE DISPERSION COMPENSATION MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance variable dispersion compensation module capable of performing dispersion compensation and waveform shaping in optical fiber transmission. SOLUTION: The variable dispersion compensation module is provided with at least one optical fiber 31 including a grating part with a chirped fiber grating 32 formed, and a temperature control mechanism for adjusting an axial temperature distribution of the grating part of the optical fiber 31. The temperature control mechanism has a plurality of heating/endothermic elements 14 arranged along the axial direction of the optical fiber 31, and a heat conduction means (a plurality of metal rings 33) arranged between each of the plurality of heating/endothermic elements 14 and the periphery of the grating part of the optical fiber 31.
