PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the collection efficiency of ink mist regardless of a scanning direction of a carriage. SOLUTION: The recording device is configured to make a part of ink liquid droplets fly as ink mist in an ink-jet recording head 10 at the time when the ink liquid droplets are discharged from a nozzle 16. The ink mist flies over the scanning direction of the carriage 14 by arranging and operating collection ducts 24 and 28 at both sides over the scanning direction of the ink-jet recording head 10. The ink mist can be surely collected in the collection ducts 24 and 28 without being adhered to the other parts of the ink-jet recording head 10. Moreover, the operation of fans 26 and 30 of the collection ducts 24 and 28 is changed over in agreement with the change-over of the scanning direction of the carriage 14 by arranging the collection ducts 24 and 28 at both sides over the scanning direction of the carriage 14.
