PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate cleaning/replacement of a contact image sensor (CIS) for reading the rear side of an original and a roller placed at a position opposed to the position of the CIS. SOLUTION: An image reader is configured by providing an opening to a lower side of a frame of an ADF (auto document feeder) so that the roller, the CIS, or a rear side read unit comprising the roller, the CIS or the like can be taken out from and inserted to the opening.
