PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propulsion device for a vessel provided with a water-take-in port in which cooling water is hardly intruded when the vessel is towed by the other vessel without rotating an impeller and a required sufficient amount of cooling water can be taken-in when the impeller is rotated. SOLUTION: The propulsion device for the vessel is provided with an impeller 22; a stationary blade 46 for guiding a water stream in an axial direction of a pump housing in a downstream side of the impeller 22; and a water-take-in port 51 for taking-in cooling water for cooling an exhaust system. An intermediate line of the two sheets of adjacent stationary blades 46, 46 is called as an equally dividing line 59, one stationary blade 61 side from the equally dividing line 59 becomes a low pressure by guiding action of the impeller 22 at towing in such a state that the impeller 22 is stopped and the other stationary blade 62 side from the equally dividing line 59 becomes a high pressure.
