The invention relates to an assembly comprising an aspirating needle and a needle protector tube, and to the application thereof. According to the invention, the needle tube (1) is connected by means of an elbow portion to the base of the needle (2). The aforementioned base is disposed fully outside the protector tube (P) and is mounted to slide on said tube (P). The protector tube comprises a longitudinal slit (4) which extends to the front end of said tube and which can open elastically in order to enable the passage of the elbow portion of the needle tube and close thereafter. The invention is suitable for placing a short catheter.
