<p>An image processing device has an interpolating section (2) for creating pixel data on each interpolated pixel by interpolation using a sampling function with finite supports and a YC separating circuit (3) for separating the luminance signal and the color signal from the interpolated composite video signal by carrying out a predetermined calculation of data on adjacent pixels of the interpolated pixel on an adjacent line. Therefore, for even the interpolated-pixel composite signal, the phase of the color signal of one line is opposite to that of the adjacent line. As a result, after the image is converted to a high definition one, YC separation is carried out. The R, G, and B signals are not subjected to interpolation, but only one composite signal is subjected to interpolation. Memories for interpolating pixels can be reduced.</p> |
