A container for CDs (10) comprises a tray (20) for partially receiving the CDs (10), which tray (20) comprises a bottom (21) and upright walls (22). A holding strip (23) having upright portions (24) is present on the bottom (21) of the tray (20). A portion of every CD (10), which is placed in the tray (20), ends up between two successive upright portions (24). The tray (20) is designed such that a CD (10) in an upright position can freely be inserted into the tray (20), and that a circumferential surface (13) of the CD (10) in a tilted position, in which the CD (10) is tilted with respect to the upright position, contacts an inner surface (25) of the tray (20). It is possible for the CDs (10) to assume a tilted position on two sides of the upright position, so that a user can easily search through the CDs (10).
