PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser scanning microscope capable of acquiring the absorbing wavelength spectral characteristics of samples. SOLUTION: The laser scanning microscope is constituted so that the wavelength of spectral diffusion light Lp' in a wide band area outputted from a laser light source 40 is selected by an AOTF 44, the wavelengths of the spectral light Ls of which the wavelength is selected is continuously changed, a sample 7 dyed by respective fluorescent reagents Y, Z is scanned with the wavelength-variable spectral light Ls, bright fluorescent light quantity data are detected by a photoelectric conversion element 54 while synchronizing fluorescence from the sample 7 with the selection of the wavelength by the AOTF 44, and the absorbing wavelength spectral characteristics of respective fluorescent regents Y, Z used for dying the sample 7 is found out on the basis of the fluorescent light quantity data.
