PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormal sound determining apparatus and a method capable of inspecting products for abnormal sound. SOLUTION: Through the use of both a sound collector 1a for collecting driving sound of a product B and a sound collector 1b for collecting ambient noise, the ambient noise is distinguished on the basis of sound data on sound collected by the sound collector 1b to correct sound data on the driving sound collected by the sound collector 1a. On the basis of corrected sound data on the driving sound, it is determined whether the product B produces an abnormal sound or not. The sound data of the driving sound are corrected by deleting data corresponding to the ambient noise from the sound data on the driving sound on the basis of the sound data on the sound collected by the sound collector 1b.
