PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a magnetic head which realizes excellent high frequency recording and reproducing characteristics even on a narrow tracks in order to realize high density recording. SOLUTION: The magnetic head is equipped with a pair of core halves in which a metal magnetic multilayer film is set up by stacking metal magnetic films and nonmagnetic insulated films alternately on a nonmagnetic substrate. In the magnetic head, the above core halves make the above metal magnetic multilayer films facing each other, and are abutted with each other through a spacer and united and integrated, and a magnetic gap is formed between the above metal magnetic multilayer films which are facing each other. The above metal magnetic multilayer films which form a major magnetic path, have a film thickness≥10μm and≤40μm, are arranged so as to incline to a magnetic gap layer from a winding window side to a sliding surface to a medium and approach mutually. The width of a track formed by a magnetic gap at the side of sliding surface to the medium is defined equal to 1/8 or less the core width of the magnetic gap at the back core side.
