PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and a device for sucking and feeding a sheet material, capable of surely separating a sheet material of the uppermost layer from other sheet materials of underlayers, stably feeding the sheet material, minimizing a suction area of a suction carrier and the performance of a negative pressure generating source, and shortening the processing time required for miniaturization, cost reduction, sucking and feeding of the device. SOLUTION: A spacer 41 provided on the bottom of a cassette has an inclination surface part 43 and a flat surface part 45, and is set to have relationships of L<SB>A</SB>=50±10 mm, t=4 mm and L<SB>C</SB><120 mm. The outer diameter sizeϕof the suction carrier is 40 mm, and its suction position is set to be within the range of the length L<SB>A</SB>. Thereby, multiple suction of printing plates is canceled just behind a rear end (C-point) of the flat surface part 45 of the spacer 41, the multiple suction of the printing plates is reduced even when there is a large number of the stacked printing plates or there is a small number of the stacked printing plates, and vacuum adhesion can be effectively canceled.
