PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction material having balanced properties, suppressed squeaking phenomenon and improved strength, heat-resistance, abrasion resistance and braking stability of the whole friction material. SOLUTION: The friction material is produced by forming and curing a friction material composition composed mainly of a fiber base excluding asbestos, a binder and a filler.
