The invention relates to a device for damping the closing operation of a weighted lid, in particular a keyboard lid. Said device comprises a cylinder, whose front face is closed, containing a highly viscous medium and a shaft with a vane piston that is rotatably mounted, in addition to an insert, which divides a cylindrical chamber that is formed between the peripheral surface of the shaft and the peripheral surface of the cylinder interior into two chambers, leaving a remaining passage. According to the invention, the flow cross-section of said passage, which defines the damping of the closing operation, can be adjusted by means of an adjusting element. The device is characterised in that the insert is held by force between a hollow of the cylinder wall and the shaft and is mounted in an axially displaceable manner by its end region in a recess of the cylinder housing and that an adjusting element acts on the insert, said element regulating the flow cross-section of the passage that is located between the free end region of the insert and the front-face seal of the cylinder. |
