<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for producing displays which can be observed in a wide range while the amount of information is controlled and by which parallax can be obtained in horizontal and vertical directions. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device is composed of a screen and a projection optical system for projection onto the screen. The screen can rotate about a vertical axis of rotation and is directional. The projection optical system is composed of a screen mirror 2 which is disposed integrally with the screen under the screen, a rotating mirror 3 with mirror surfaces on both sides which is disposed coaxially with the screen under the screen and can rotate about an axis of rotation at a half rotation speed of that of the screen and a group of projectors which are disposed in tiers for projection onto the rotating mirror 3 obliquely from beneath. The zone of vision is divided and the amount of information is controlled by using the directional screen 1.
