<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chlorofluorocarbon decomposition method capable of fixing chlorine gas and fluorine gas produced as byproducts after the chlorofluorocarbon decomposition. <P>SOLUTION: The chlorofluorocarbon decomposition method is for decomposing a chlorofluorocarbon and causing a reaction of fluorine gas and chlorine gas produced as byproducts with calcium aluminates and/or their hydrated compounds. The chlorofluorocarbon decomposition method comprises incineration of the chlorofluorocarbon together with other wastes at the time of chlorofluorocarbon decomposition. The chlorofluorocarbon decomposition method is carried out by using a fixation material of fluorine gas and chlorine gas in form of a filter. By the method, the discharge amount of fluorine gas and chlorine gas can be minimized.
