PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner having resulting excellent transparency of a yellow projected image by an OHP, having favorable transferring property at high temperature and high humidity, causing little deterioration even exposed and showing excellent transparency even for superposition of secondary colors and higher order colors, and to provide a method for forming an image. SOLUTION: The toner contains at least a binder resin, a coloring agent, a release agent and a compound of a hydroxycarboxylic acid expressed by formula (I) and a divalent or trivalent metal. The yellow toner contains a coloring agent selected from a group comprising C.I. solvent Yellow 33, 56, 79, 82, 93, 112 and 163. The weight average molecular weight MW of the THF soluble content of the toner ranges 10,000 to 600,000 and the average circularity of the toner measured by a flow type particle image measuring apparatus ranges 0.920 to 0.995 with less than 0.040 standard deviation of the circularity.
