The engine has an air intake unit (6) with throttle (8), a crankcase, and a crankcase ventilation unit with ventilation pipe (9). The flow profile of the ventilation pipe is controlled by the throttle of the air intake unit, or by a ventilation pipe throttle (10), which is actuated dependent upon intake throttle position. Both throttles are adjusted parallel by a mechanical device, e.g. a common shaft (11).
