<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust passage switching device for an internal combustion engine with a size reduced by reducing components and with a reliability increased by reducing the occurrence of congestion troubles. <P>SOLUTION: An exhaust system of an engine 1 has an exhaust turbine device 11 with a main exhaust passage 9, a catalyst device 12 disposed at the downstream side thereof, and a sub exhaust passage 13 branching from the upstream side of the exhaust turbine device 11 and joining at the upstream side of the catalyst device 12. The exhaust system is provided with the exhaust passage switching device 14. The exhaust passage switching device 14 comprises: a body member 17 having an internal combustion engine side communicating section 17A, a turbine side communicating section 17B and a catalyst side communicating section 17C; a first valve element 19 capable of abutting on a valve seat 18A of the turbine side communicating section 17B; a second valve element 20 capable of abutting on a valve seat 18B of the catalyst side communicating section 17C; and a stay member 21 for selectively switching one of the main exhaust passage 9 and the sub exhaust passage 13 in an open state and the other one in a close state by turning the integrally attached first and second valve elements 19 and 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
