PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel head manufacturing method capable of greatly narrowing the distance between the reading element and the writing element. SOLUTION: The method for forming a parallel head structure 700 includes the processes of: forming the reading head 710 which has a reading element 780 arranged near an air bearing surface (ABS); forming a writing coil 730 which has a first coil side 731 adjacent to the reading head 710 and a center axis 737 vertical to the ABS; and further forming a magnetic pole chip 785 which is connected to the writing coil 730, shifted from the center axis 737 toward the reading element 780, and arrayed very close to a part between the reading head 710 and the writing head 720.
