1,121,580. Respiratory appliances. R. METIVIER. 22 Dec., 1966 [28 Dec., 1965], No. 57387/66. Heading A5T. [Also in Division F2] Apparatus able to generate periodic fluid signals from a source A of fluid pressure, for application to, for example, a respiratory mask B, comprises at least five pneumatically controlled valves 1-5 and two time-lag devices 6, 7 connected together by a fluid circuit in a particular way, each valve having an inlet (e), outlet (s), and control inlet (c), and each valve being closed or opened according as a fluid signal is respectively applied or not to the control inlet of the valve. As shown, the fluid circuit also includes an adjustable needle valve 9, a safety relief valve 12, non-return valves 16, 24, and restricting devices 6a, 7a. The timelag devices 6, 7 (see also Figure 2, not shown) comprise cylinders of different size (e.g. having a volume ratio 1:2) closed by pistons (6b, 7b) which are linked together and which may be moved in the cylinders to adjust the volumes of the cylinders and hence the operating frequency. One of the valves 1-5, said to be of known type, is illustrated in Fig. 3 (not shown).
|
