The surrounding frame is made from lengths of compressed timber particle boards cut and glued together at right angles to form side (LC) and face (LF) sections, the first fitted against the edge of a wall (C) and the second parallel to its face. The lateral surfaces of the timber particle board lengths are treated to give them additional density, and the surface that receives the closing door or window (P) has a groove (RJ) for a seal strip (J). In addition, the frame members can be given a coating of plastic, melamine strip or wood veneer.
