The inventive device is characterised in that the articles (30) have a substantially rectangular or flat cross section; said device is provided with a top pressing cylinder (6) and lower (7) pressing cylinder which is parallel to an axis corresponding to a cradle (2, 2.1) and with a pressing system (9) in such a way that, for example the strip (31) can be wrapped at an angle of more that 360 DEG ; the programming system (35) makes it possible to synchronise the distribution and tightening of the strip (31), thereby obtaining a devoid of folds tightening and a right angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the strip (31) on the top surface of the article (30) and in that a gap (36) between two pressing cylinders (6, 7) is adjustable by a spring, thereby making it possible to wrap the articles (30) having different heights.
