There is provided an imaging device having an excellent operability and visibility when setting/adjusting the function of the imaging device. The imaging device includes: GUI screen generation means for generating a GUI screen for operating the device and displaying it on image display means; operation means for operating the GUI screen; control means for controlling the device according to the operation of the GUI screen by the operation means; storage means containing hierarchical main menu information; menu generation means; and menu edition means capable of editing unique menu information generated by the menu generation means. The control means controls the GUI screen generation means upon detection of a predetermined operation by the operation means. According to the control by the control means, the GUI screen generation means generates a GUI screen containing index information for operating the menu edition means in the unique menu information and displays it on the image display means.
