摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst which can be suitably applied to a nitrogen-containing active carbide catalyst used for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell or the like, and to provide a catalyst electrode and manufacturing method of the same, a membrane-electrode assembly, and an electrochemical device. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) is manufactured by using the catalytic electrode formed by applying a pressure and/or heat to a powdered mixture of the nitrogen-containing active carbide catalyst and a hydrogen ion conductive polymeric material like Nafion (R) or the like. An oxygen electrode is the catalyst electrode serving both as a catalyst layer and an electrode which can be formed into an intended thickness, and catalytic amount can be increased by increasing the thickness the catalyst layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
