<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover NO<SB>x</SB>storage capacity by positively regenerating a sulfur-poisoned catalyst of NO<SB>x</SB>storage reduction type for gas-engine exhaust emission control to recover NO<SB>x</SB>storage power, and suppress CO-discharge at the time of regeneration treatment. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst is treated at 550°C or higher in atmospheric exhaust-gas of excess-air ratio (λ) of 0.95-1.0.
