<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a back up computer to start it as a substitute of a fault computer without any intervention of an operator in the occurrence of failure in the computer. <P>SOLUTION: In occurrence of a failure in the computer C1, a fault computer search process FP working on the computer C1 is actuated by means of another computer, for example, a computer C2. The process FP searches a fault computer within a system. When the fault computer is found, the process FP searches for a back up computer C5 by using a back up computer searching part PP2 if the process FP is actuated by the computer C2. The process FP changes contents of a disk/boot computer management database DBDB by using a boot image setting part BS2 to indirectly set a boot image including an operating system executed in the fault computer in the back up computer C5.
