<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orthography rule compiling method of compiling a first orthography rule and a second orthography rule into individual finite state transducers by inserting elements of the rules into finite state transducer templates. <P>SOLUTION: The individual finite state transducers are combined to form a single combined finite state transducer. Under one embodiment, the finite state transducers are first combined based on a common core in the finite state transducers.
