PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical member having a low optical transmission loss and to provide a polymerizable composition for optical member for manufacturing the optical member. SOLUTION: The optical member contains at least a compound expressed by general formula (1) or general formula (2). The polymerizable composition for the optical member contains a polymerizable monomer and the above compound having a different refractive index from that of the polymerizable monomer. In formula (1), each of R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>independently represents an alkyl group which can have a substituent. In the formula (2), n represents an integer of 2 to 5, k represents an integer of 1 to n, R<SP>3</SP>represents an alkyl group which can have a substituent, and each of L<SP>1</SP>to L<SP>n</SP>independently represents an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or an alkylthio group which can have a substituent or represents a halogen atom.
