PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite cooking device selectively using heating by a plane heater and heating by an induction heater by a high-frequency current on a cooking mode; and also to provide its control method. SOLUTION: This composite cooking device has the plane heater 140 and the induction heater 172 installed under a heat-resistant glass plate 120. The cooking device automatically determines a material of a cooking container 103, and heats and cooks food by using a heat source suitable for the material of the cooking container.
