PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supplement ink in the case where a total printing number of sheets at the time when an ink cartridge is removed is different from a total printing number of sheets recorded at the last time of ink cartridge replacement in an inkjet recording device which supplies ink from the ink cartridge set in a recording device body to a sub tank loaded on a carriage. SOLUTION: When removal and setting of the ink cartridge is detected (steps 22 and 23), if the total printing number P at the time point is different from the total printing number Pn at the last time of ink suppliance (step 24), ink feeding is carried out (step 25), and a value of P is stored in Pn (step 26). For example, the ink replenishment is not carried out no matter how many times the ink cartridge is removed and set in a state while printing is not carried out. The ink replenishment is always carried out at the time of detecting setting of the ink cartridge if the ink cartridge is removed and set every time one sheet is printed.
