PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the lighting property of a lamp by varying the distance between electrodes. SOLUTION: This lamp 26 has an airtightly sealed arc tube 50. The arc tube 50 is formed with a light emitting part 51, sealed tube parts 52 and 53, and bases 54 and 55. A positive electrode 63 and a negative electrode 64 are disposed in the light emitting part 51. The positive electrode 63 is attached to a tip part of a first lead rod 61. The lead rod 61 is inserted into the arc tube 50 from the base 54. The base 54 is provided with a sealing member 70, and the sealing member 70 is fitted to the lead rod 61. When the lead rod 61 is moved, a part of the sealing member 70 is deformed to keep the airtightness in the arc tube 50. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
