PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having a moisture absorbent easily installable inside the organic EL element and having a moisture absorbent layer having high moisture absorbency and keeping stable luminescent characteristics for a long time in the organic EL element removing penetrated moisture with the moisture absorbent layer comprising a compound containing an isocyanate group. SOLUTION: The moisture absorbent layer is formed with particles of the isocyanate compound and a binder layer of addition polymerization type silicone resin curing at lower temperature than melting point of the isocyanate compound, and the moisture absorbent layer is installed in at least a part on the inner surface facing a cathode of a sealing body sealing an organic luminescent material layer.
